Ioana Lupascu
Biography
oana Lupascu is a systems engineer and product designer currently pursuing graduate studies in Human Factors Engineering with the Tufts University Mechanical Engineering Department. Ioana’s areas of academic focus include human-computer interaction, augmenting the cognitive process using virtual reality/ augmented reality technology, and building predictive analytics on artificial intelligence and machine learning algorithms. Ioana’s current research seeks to identify ways to augment cognitive and visual mechanisms of decision-making in subterranean military combat scenarios using AR/ VR technology and predictive biometric analysis. Her engineering career started with academic research in stochastic resonance and synthetic biology with the Jim Collins Applied BioDynamics Lab, where she was a Boston University Trustee Scholar in Biomedical Engineering. Ioana worked with several molecular diagnostics companies as a senior level systems integration engineer to bring liquid biopsy, qPCR, and high-throughput Next Generation DNA Sequencing technologies to market in the personalized medicine space. Today, Ioana’s work focuses on creating novel mechanisms of human-computer interaction that create the psychological multisensory ease necessary to navigate increasingly complex information landscapes. Ioana is an advocate for bringing empathy and a human-centered perspective into product design.
