Courtney Middelkoop received her B.S. and M.S. in Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering from Iowa State University in 2018 and 2019, respectively. As a former NCAA collegiate gymnast, Courtney was able to apply her 17 years of gymnastics experience when evaluating gymnastics equipment. She aimed to shift current research in the sport of gymnastics from optimizing the gymnast’s performance to identifying ways gymnastics equipment manufacturers can design better equipment. Her areas of focus included human impact and performance and product design and testing.
